Validated in the desert.

We race to test. Desert racing is where DXR's hybrid drivetrain and DXR Arrowline range extender prove themselves under real-world conditions.

Why We Race

Racing is our test lab

A desert race packs months of hard use into a few days: hundreds of miles of rock, silt and whoops, extreme heat and nowhere to plug in. That makes every race real-world validation and accelerated durability testing for our hybrid drive.

What breaks gets fixed. What works gets proven. Every lesson goes straight back into the DXR Arrowline range extender and the products we build on it.

What We Test

Built to be pushed

How We Improve

Test. Learn. Improve.

1 · TestRun the hybrid drivetrain hard in races and shakedowns.
2 · LogCapture data from every system, every mile.
3 · LearnFind what wore, what overheated and what held up.
4 · ImproveFeed fixes into the next build and the Arrowline product.
Test Platform

MOAB #1351

MOAB is our rolling test bench: a Jeep JL-based series-hybrid race truck. The engine never drives the wheels. An onboard diesel engine turns a generator, the generator keeps the battery charged, and electric motors drive the wheels.

Fuel is carried on board, so it can keep going on remote desert courses where battery-only vehicles have to stop.

Currie axles

Heavy-duty axles front and rear.

Fox shocks

Race-valved suspension for whoops and big hits.

Protected steering

Steering ram tucked behind the tie rod.

Desert cooling

Cooling and filtration sized for long, dusty miles.

The Goal
1,000

off-road miles. No stops.

Our goal is to run 1,000 off-road miles without stopping. It's a target we're building toward, and every test and race gets us closer.

2027 Test Program

Test schedule

Each event is a planned test session for the hybrid drivetrain and Arrowline range extender.

Schedule subject to change. Final dates and classes come from each sanctioning body.

Test Log

Testing progress

  1. Concept & layout

Series-hybrid architecture chosen and packaged into the JL test platform.

  2. Axles & suspension

Currie axles and Fox suspension laid out in CAD, then checked through full travel.

  3. Steering redesign

Steering ram moved behind the tie rod for protection. Mock-up fitment is next.

  4. Instrumentation

Data logging planned for temperatures, power and fuel use.

  5. Up next

Fabrication, hybrid system install and desert shakedown testing.
